Statement

There is often a difference between how we present ourselves to others and who we are in private spaces. These works explore this phenomenon. While photographs are often associated with reality, when a mask-like covering of embroidery is introduced to the found photograph, the dimensional thread becomes more real than the image made from the photographic emulsion. This combination asks the question, "What is more real, the masks we wear or the people we are behind them?"
